I have used CSJ foods for around 15 years, during which time I have fed 3 Jack Russell/Patterdale terrier crosses, a Weimerana/Pointer cross and now my 3 Labs on a variety of CSJ, not least Champ Adult. My dogs have been fit, healthy and in excellent over all condition. Why would I want to pay much, much more money for well known premium brands when CSJ offers such great value..

My 10yo lab has been on Champ since coming off puppy food, only changing to another CSJ food recently. Always praised on his shape, coat and teeth by the vet, as a large 38kg lab this food has been fantastic for him. In fact after a short period recently of him being ill, I called CSJ for advice and after a great conversation they sent samples of another of their foods for older dogs, which was perfect for him. Amazing customer service and it’s good to have that kind of expert support. We now have a 2yo lab as well and this food works great for him too.

I’m not big on internet recommendations, so don’t really leave them, but after 10 years of using this food and having healthy dogs along with the great support from the manufacturer when needed they have earned my trust!

Have raised 7 dogs on CSJK9 dog foods from puppy to adult and senior. They don't have gas as much and like you say their poo is alway firm. Their coats are glossy, soft and their general health and stamina is amazing. One of our senior dogs was always amazing the Vet by his condition and I was told 'Whatever you are doing, keep doing as he is in amazing condition'. A huge compliment to my ability to judge that CSJK9 was exactly the right sort of food for our beloved pets!

I cannot understand why this food has such a low rating. I have 2 Labradors, one has just gone onto champ adult from champ puppy, and the other is on old champ for weight management. No issues with either of my boys. Their coats are glowing and their digestion and poops are spot on. I also use salmon oil with each meal. CSJ also has a nutritional advisor who is brilliant!
I found that my boys sometimes have excessively dry poops on this food, so I put extra water over their food, which they lap up! Other than that, this food deserves 5/5!

Absolutely agree with you on this! Have raised 7 dogs on CSJK9 dog foods from puppy to adult and senior. Those have been 2 Springer Spaniels, 1 Great Danes, 3 Dogue de Bordeaux and now 1 French Bulldog. 4 of those 7 have problem bowels, one with a supposed 'protein allergy' which cleared up within a week of her switching over to CSJK9. They don't have gas as much and like you say their poo is alway firm. I add a bit of wet dog food now and again just to make them feel a little spoilt but all in all their coats are glossy, soft and their general health and stamina is amazing.

I don't understand the low rating on this food. We have two dogs 1 year old miniature cockapoo and an 11 month old labrador. Our Labrador had a very sensitive belly and we had slowly come acustome to him having very runny poops we tried a more expensive dog food and that didnt help at all. On a recommendation from my partners friend we tried this and we are now very proud to say our Labradors poops are for once as they should be and our cockapoo is great on the food. We are very pleased with it and will continue to buy it. Couldnt recommend it enough.

The reason this food has a low rating is due to the relatively poor ingredients when compared to the foods which get 90% plus.

If the ingredients listed are in yellow or red they are considered borderline dangerous.

However it is obviously nutritionally complete and provides what a dog needs and clearly many dogs do very well on this and will live long healthy lives. It is clearly a good dog food but the expensive equivalents with high ratings will just have more expensive ingredients probably providing more natural nutrients with less additives.

A friend of mine breeds and trains Spaniels to the highest of competitive standards and got me onto this food. Both my Springer and Flat Coat love it and are in great health. To quote my friend directly "All the trial boys use it". Nuff said.

I bought this for my husky after receiving positive comments on this food, I was feeding my boy on burns alert and in the space of 3 months he lost weight, had diarrhoea and suffered from depression and became aggressive. I changed him slowly over the space of a week from burns onto csj and I have a much happier healthier dog!. No more diarrhoea, he's gained some weight and he's much happier and more energetic. I can't believe this has such a low rating! Don't believe that expensive dog food is better! I've gone from paying £35 (burns) to £11.50 + 6.00 p&p for csj! That's half price for a happy healthier dog. And of course you're going to have the bigger brand names degrading csj purely because of money and profit.

I cannot believe that CSJ has received such a low rating!! I have a greyhound, 3 lurchers, 2 staffies and an elderly lab collie cross. They are all fed on CSJ and they are extremely healthy and their stools are firm. Their coats are lovely too. In fact, my staffie girl is a rescue and when we got her she had hardly any fur, pus filled spots all over her and terrible demodex mange. We very slowly put her on CSJ and now she has a full coat which is lovely and oily, no spots and hasn't had steroids or antibiotics for 3 years!! Even the vet was gobsmacked!!! I can highly recommend CSJ. It's inexpensive and my dogs' healthy says it all!! My lurcher boy is 12 and has NO joint problems...apart from his white face he looks about 6 years old! I'm so impressed in fact that my hubby and I stock it in our shop now!

I have 4 Flyball dog, 1 very successful winning div 17 at the British Champs 2012. I've been feeding CSJ for years now and wouldn't feed anything else. My collie x had terrible problem breaking nails, 7 in one year, been on CSJ and has only broke 2 in 3 years! Can't recommed this food enough, and the herbs and salmon oil are fab too.

For the money CSJ Champ is good value, however is does not have skin or joint support in it. I know a lot of dogs do fine on this food, but long term I would not reccommend it. It is a real basic food, you pay for what you get. It's VAT free, which is why most people are on it.

I put my 2 dogs onto CSJ Champ 3 weeks ago after seeing a post on facebook about it. My 4 year old jack russell X chihuahua who i have never been able to put weight on (he was pure muscle and bone) has now got a lovely covering of flesh over his ribs and is looking healthier already, My other dog is a big X breed who i adopted from a rescue centre a few months ago was also quite skinny and lacking condition has come on no end since starting this food. I have recommended this food to everyone i know,I would never feed my dogs anything else now. Is awesome food.

Rubbish!Expert rating of 1.9? Well on the recommendation of my expert vet I switched my 4 dogs onto CSJ 4 months ago & within that time they have had better stomach's & a much healthier coat.Glad I didn't see reviews like this or I would not have even tried it.My dogs are happy thus making me a happy owner.

Best dog food I have ever had me dogs on, Rottie 9yrs and Labrador 8months, really good quality food and to see it's been given a 1.9 "Expert" review is rubbish, normally I would have ignored this review but I feel that so many dog owners would miss out on a great dog food because of a idiotic review ! Buy this dog food. IFSS World Cup and BSSF NC Winners.......says it all really.

We swapped to feeeding CSJ 3 years ago, our dogs almost instantly lost any fat, coats glistened and their stools improved. At vet inspections I have had vets try to advise on diet, I showed them the contents of the CSJ feeds and they immediately said they could not better it. One of our dogs competes in Flyball at a highish level and he just gets fitter and faster. We have now fed 4 Collies on CSJ and all have won awards at shows as Best Veteran, Best Dog Condition, Best Rough Coat Condition. We have won the Best Condition class for the 3 years in a row.
This is a fantastic food at amazing prices, I cannot believe the expert ratings and I would advise dialogue with CSJ to see if the way they represent the content on the website is causing an issue with the scoring.
We have advised many to try it, none go back, the only issue is the price, it looks to cheap!!

This food contains 33% meat, yet is only rated 1.9... doesn't make sense to me!
