We've been feeding our two boys Guru for 3 years now and I've got to say they have never been in better shape. Changed over from what I thought was a premium kibble and have never looked back. Their poops used to be runny and they would scratch. Now their poops are firm, not too big to scoop, and their coats are really shiny. Customer service is also first class. Rang and spoke to a lovely lady who took time to answer my questions of which there were many. Am very pleased and would highly recommend.

Dog has recently been diagnosed with potentially a mast cell tumor I will be discontinuing use of this food due to its extremely high carbohydrate content which is studied and understood to fuel cancer and also 50% carbs is far far from what a dog would be naturally eating just full of filler at the end of the day the cons far outweigh the supposed cold pressed benefits

my 2 frenchies absolutly love this stuff, i thought they would be put off by the shape but its gone in seconds. We were using eden 80/20 but they had runny poos all the time. from the first day i started to add guru to their meals there poos were instantly firm.

Previously on Markus Mühle Natural for two months. No problems at all but wanted to try other options so we bought 15kg of this..About a week after starting this food Bear started itching. No fleas, no inflammation anywhere, just constant itching all over. Nibbling at tail and belly, scratching at neck, back and flanks. With no other changes to his lifestyle it pointed strongly at this food. So we went back to the Markus Mühle Natural. A week later and the scratching has stopped. Not conclusive but good enough for me to not use this again.

I've been feeding my 5 month old Huntaway this for the last month. We were on Hills Science plan large breed from when we brought him home. His stools were always soft, very difficult to pick up and smelly, the food itself seemed smelly and coated in an unnatural dust. I found Guru on here basically going by the NV ratings. I then read lots of reviews and had the most in depth conversation with their Customer service expert about poo, fur, flatulence for nearly an hour! Since eating this his poo has firmed up (although he had to have his anal gland expressed due to the soft stools not naturally expressing them), his fur is glossy and he no longer suffocates us on the sofa with his farting. I've also noticed that the usual 8- 10 pm hyperactivity has all but stopped too.

I’ve been feeding my two labs Guru for nearly 12 months now. I rang and spoke to them before switching over as both of my boys had been having issues with loose stools and were unable to through the night without soiling their bedding.

I am having exactly the same issue as Mandy C. Initially liked the food, now won't go anywhere near it. Tried dry, with warm water, with yogurt, playing with it, leaving it. Everything. Not interested. Contacted their customer service who simply didn't want to know. I do not recommend at all.

We have just purchased this as we have been struggling to find something that does not upset our new rescue dog. She initially seemed to eat the food but will no longer eat it. It is quite large and I notice some people have mixed with warm water. It would be interesting to know what success people have had with adding water.

We love Guru! I have two rescue dogs and they absolutely love Guru food, it's such good quality food for an amazing price, I work in a vets and the vets always comment at how healthy they look, my latest rescue is from Cyprus, I have had her since October and she was very skinny and her coat was dull. They usually recommend a bland diet at first but I put her straight on it and she loved it and caused no tummy upset. Her coat is now soft and shiney. Her weight is perfect. And the dogs
love dinner time!Secondly Gurus Customer Service is amazing! Once, while on a lunch break I added a bag to my basket. I then got called away from my break back to work. About an hour later I received a call from Guru asking if I still wanted the order that was sat in my basket as the delivery driver had just arrived and they could get it on the van right away! I said absolutely yes and it arrived the next day! Absolutely cannot fault them and I have recommended to other people and they have loved the results! They do lovely treats too!😊😊

My 4 month old puppies have been on Guru for a month and are absolutely thriving! They sit licking their lips whilst waiting for their next meal and are so much more energy regulated and satisfied. Looking forward to trying more flavours as the surf and turf, bones and fish skins have gone down a storm so far! No upset tummies and super customer service when I needed advice. Happy customers! 🐶 🐶

Unlike some of the other reviews, our two year old lab, Davey, was never a fussy eater. However, he suffers each spring with seasonal flank alopecia. A couple of months ago we were our walking him and bumped into a lady who had a lab with the most beautiful coat. She said she was convinced it was down to his food - Guru. We sent off for a couple of samples and Davey wolfed it down so we then ordered the larger bag, alternating with his original Royal Canin food. He seems to really love that it gets a sort of gravy when you add the warm water to it. Within a couple of weeks his two alopecia patches had cleared (they do grow back normally but not so quickly) and the rest of his fur was amazing...absolutely thick, deep, soft and lustrous. I am convinced he is also mounting less (previously he would shed so much hair all year round) - I’m no longer vacuuming twice a day! I completely attribute his beautiful new coat to his Guru food. I guess it’s the same for dogs as it is for humans - you are what you eat - and this shows in your skin, hair and vitality.

We have a 16 month old GSP who is super active. We were walked down the route by our vet of Royal Canin which we found you needed a lot of per day, made our dog hyper and was on and off with regards to bad stools.Moved onto Purina, Simply and Tails all getting the same results. She's been on Guru for a few weeks and she is calmer, adores the food and has great stools which are less regular than before. The odour of her stools are by far less offensive as well. The flatulence has gone as well which is a bonus. We also mix a little bit of Forthglade in with each bowl. Her coat is looking the best it has and her weight is up to the desired level. Obviously this is only a short period of time but we are very happy with the results.Still amazed by the portions and initially find Guru amazing value for money. I use it as reward treats as well which keeps consistency and is far cheaper than buying "special" treats on a regular basis. The whole cold pressed process seems to be the way forward.

We have a 15 month old cavapoo. He was pretty fussy when it came to eating dog food. We had tried Royal Canin which seemed to give him a bit of an upset tum, Science Diet, James Welbeloved, Dr Johns and Arden Grange chicken and Arden Grange lamb. He didn't like any of them, though the only one that upset his tummy was Royal Canin. (He is sensitive to eggs so perhaps they have eggs in???) After searching this site, I thought we would give Guru a try. We bough a Surf and Turf tester pack for £4 and he absolutely loved it. So we bought a 5Kg bag and he has now worked his way almost through that. He still loves it. I have just ordered him a 14 Kg bag of Surf and Turf which will probably last him about 5 or 6 months. We feed him half in the morning as dry kibble and half in the evening in a treat ball (to exercise his brain!!!) He will also happily accept the kibble as a treat for doing tricks etc and will work to get them. His tummy is much more settled; his poos are well formed and easy to pick up and he rarely has soft poos now. He is not hyper as he was on some of the other diets and is much more responsive to commands. He has lots of energy when we are out but is happy to sit quietly at home. I would definitely recommend Guru Surf and Turf. Arthur is a fussy little cavapoo, but he loves it. If he loves it, it must be good!

Our dog loves Guru! She'd gone off her previous food and some other foods have made her very hyperactive. Changed to Guru and she is now a lovely calm dog and is far more responsive when out on walks. She adores the food, which she has dry for breakfast and dinner but we also soak it to make a mush to fill bones and kongs which she goes nuts for. She's a high energy dog (German Pointer) who gets lots of exercise so we found we had to slightly increase the amount she gets per day from what is recommended on the Guru website for her weight.

Echo likes his guru... hia been on it since about 10 weeks old. Was a little ambivalent towards eating until guru came into his life, now he can't get enough. Only issue is that the portions are small, because it's nutritionally rich, so he doesn't get as much as he'd like. Can grab a few chunks for the bag and use them as treats any time he's up to no good, which is also handy. Only criticism is that the last 500g in a bag typically is powdery guff, so we normal just mix that with water and freeze.

We have an 11 month old sproodle (springer x poodle), Luna, who is a very fussy eater. We have been through so many different foods, acana, James wellbeloved, skinners, simple, fish4dogs etc. But she was never keen for any of them and would often leave her food. We found that she liked applaws food and we had her on this from about 6 months onwards. Being the mix that she is, she's a very excitable dog anyway - but she would never sit down and chill for a moment! I came across guru in September and thought we'd give it a go so I ordered a sample. Luna went mad for it! So we ordered a large bag of it. We still had a big bag of applaws left over so started mixing the two together. When we ran out of applaws a few months later we carried on with Guru only. I cannot believe the transformation, it's been amazing. The same week we noticed a massive difference in behaviour, the same Luna but much more chilled out and she's improved so much. We think this could be the difference in protein. She's always happy to wolf down her food and she has fewer but big solid poops! I cannot recommend this food enough! Finally a dog food that makes me and Luna happy!

We started feeding our two Spaniels Guru 6 Months ago and are amazed at the results. Our dogs didn't want to eat their dry kibble before and would refuse food. We were so worried about them and about their weight. We did some research about foods and looked on this website. After worrying for so long about their lack of interest to eat and their failing weight we can't tell you what a huge relief it was to find Guru. We ordered a sample and it arrived the next day. Our dogs devoured it and were so eager to actually eat for once. We contacted Guru and received such a warm and helpful response. They discussed our dogs diets and any allergies they had and we ordered our first bag. We did a really slow transition and monitored the dogs weight etc. Well wow!!!!! We can't tell you how relieved we have been. Their coats are glossy, their weight is now ideal, their breath and poop are as they should be and we are delighted. Our dogs are our family and the worry before about their diet and weight was awful. Well no more now we've found Guru. We could not recommend a company more and we have told all our friends and families. They are so helpful, professional and supportive. We don't normally write reviews but we just wanted to let them know what a difference they have made to us and our dogs. The vets were so pleased on their last health check and we will never change from Guru. Your service and care is above and beyond. Thank you Guru xxx

My 1 year old Cavalier Bertie has been on Guru for about 1 month now. Since we first got him at 8 weeks old he has never been interested in his dinner. He was on Royal Canine when we brought him home which we were not happy to keep him on, so we slowly switched him to Lily's Kitchen. He was little more interested in his food but that didnt last long. He would never eat his food straight away and slowly graze at it through the day. He also always used to suffer from loose stools which we could never understand why as we thought Lily's Kitchen was a good natural brand and we only ever gave him natural treats.I saw a blog post about Guru food and had to do some more research as soon as i read it. I knew we had to give it a try, especially after seeing how uninterested Bertie was with his food for so long.I ordered a sample and within the 1st day I knew i had to order a full size bag after seeing how much Bertie loved it! Since the first day i gave this food to Bertie, he has eaten every meal straight away. He finally looks happy and excited when i say the word dinner, which makes me so so happy! I give him the Guru food dry in the morning and mix it with warm water for him in the evening which he LOVES.Most importantly, i have noticed the biggest change in his stools. It is like he is a different dog!I am so happy to have found Guru and could not recommend them enough! :-)

Hi have been feeding my Border Terrier for 1 week, he is still in his transition period, being mixed with his usual cooked chicken. The first was good, the second day would only eat it once, he has been hit and mix since. He will not eat it in the morning at all, he chooses to eat once in the evening (he was always fed twice a day) normally. He has become very lethargic too. We go off for our walk and he is ok for about 5 mins then it is painful to walk him round. His pads are fine already checked. Any ideas anyone

It's been hit and miss from day one with my Frenchies sensitive tum. I've tried top quality foods and have been feeding him a raw diet for the last 14 months or so, but we still have problems. I've stripped his diet right back and have started feeding him Guru for breakfast and raw for his evening meal. This is the advantage of guru, you can feed alongside a raw and since doing this we've had no squirts, he's gaining weight and he looks forward to meal times time. Totally recommend this product and have told many friends who feed poor quality kibble to give it a try.

Our dogs have been happily eating Guru for over a month now. A black lab/cocker spaniel lab who is on a diet and an English Springer Spaniel, who needs to put on weight. The Springer's coat is noticeable softer and shinier since switching. You can smell the goodness in the cold pressed kibble. Like that the Guru bag is resealable, to keep it nice and fresh. Poos are definitely more solid, so no more messy picking up on walks - winner!

I cannot praise Guru dog food enough! We have 2 rescue dogs, Boycie a Staffy xJack and Roxy a Lab x. Boycie has a very sensitive tummy and is gluten intolerant and sensitive to other grains and cereals. As a result we have tried him on numerous foods in the 2.5 years we have had him and each time he likes it for a month and then goes off it and a new food has to be found. We have been using Guru for 3-4 months now following a recommendation from my Dad and I have never seen him so excited for meal times! Roxy, being part lab will eat anything she can but again we have to be careful as she can get quite smelly if she eats the wrong things, Guru has been perfect for her too. Their weight is so easy to manage, their fur is wonderfully soft and shiny. they just seem so much happier in themselves and I'm happier for it!! And the price of this food is fantastic too!! We were spending well over £100 per month to feed our two before we tried Guru but now with the feeding guide being smaller and it being a better quality food we spend half what we used to!! Proof is definitely in the pudding, just had their annual health checks too and the vets complimented their coat, skin, teeth and general great health giving them both PERFECT body scores telling me not to change a thing as these 2 dogs are some of the healthiest they have seen, I definitely think Guru has made the difference. Will not be changing food any time soon!!!!

We rescued Rosie, a deaf Staffy last year, not knowing she was pregnant! She wasn’t particularly fussed with food when we first had her, but suddenly started eating everything in sight and stealing food (that’s when we realised she may be in the family way).A month later she gave birth to 8 beautiful puppies. When the puppies started eating solids (vet recommended puppy food) at around 4 weeks most of them started having tummy problems with blood in the poo. Loads of visits to our vets and Prokolin in industrial quantities seemed to sort it out.At 6.5 weeks Dog's Trust kindly stepped in to re-home the puppies ... and we kept a gorgeous male puppy, we called Pegasus. At 10 weeks he had a severe tummy upset, which resulted in him being on an intravenous antibiotic drip for a day. He pulled through thankfully. A few weeks later we had trouble again, so we stopped feeding him the puppy kibble and started feeding him boiled rice, sweet potato and chicken 4-5 times a day.We did some research online and then discovered Guru and thought it would do no harm to try it out. We slowly weaned them onto Guru. They both love Guru - cannot wait for their meal times! Rosie now eats all her food - doesn’t leave a crumb! But the best thing is that since feeding them with Guru we have not had any tummy problems. Best poop I have seen in any of our dogs! Not smelly and is firm!I don’t buy biscuit treats for them anymore either. I bake a fresh batch of yummy-smelling dog biscuits every week - using Guru as the base. I cannot recommend Guru highly enough!

Hi Ruth I don't mind at all. Lisa at Guru has a recipe too - which she adapted from mine - which I adapted from a number I found online. I use a tub of peanut butter - but be careful what you buy as I believe some manufacturers use xylitol as a sweetener, which I hear is very dangerous for dogs.Rosie & Pegasus' Guru biscuit treats Mix together - 2.5 cups flour (I use spelt) and a bit more to form biscuits and for baking sheet. - 1t baking powder - 1 egg then add - 1 tub peanut butter (read food labels carefully) - 1 large baked sweet potato (skin left on) - 2 cups rehydrated guru - 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional - no nutritional value - just makes kitchen smell nice) - 1 T coconut oil - 2T honey Should be a firm consistency when mixed. - Create biscuit size and shape to suit dog - I create a mixture of large and small. A heaped teaspoon full makes a decent size doggie treat. I flatten biscuits both sides using a fork - doesn't look pretty, but does the job. (I know Lisa makes very smart looking biscuits using a rolling pin and biscuit cutters) - Heat oven to 180C - Place biscuits on baking tray in centre of oven (on floured greaseproof paper) for approx 30 minutes. - Check biscuits after 30 mins - they need to be firm. If not, leave in oven for a bit longer. - Switch off oven and leave biscuits in oven to dry out.One batch lasts us 2 weeks. Our two love them! Our friends dogs do too!Let me know how you get on. Happy to try other recipes .. using Guru as a base! ;-)Gillian

We are continue to be huge supporters of Guru! Our paw-some two can't wait for meal times - over 18 months of using Guru, they drool for their food. Where Rosie once had a poor appetite, she eats every last morsel! We know the slightest thing will affect Pegasus' tum, but Guru has kept him on the straight and narrow. I still bake biscuits using Guru, and haven't met a dog who doesn't love the biscuits! One bite and their eyes light up! Wonderful to see!

We have two Australian Labradoodle's, Alfie is 5 and Dillon 2. They have both until recently been fed on a high quality dry kibble. However Dillon would seem disinterested at feeding time, and he started leaving food. So I decided to research again and discovered Cold Pressed Dog Food. I sent off for samples and Guru was the one which won Dillon over, he now looks forward to food time and always finishes his two daily meals. I save money each month as it is cheaper than the previous kibble they had, poo's are firm and don't seem to smell! Alfie and Dillon are more than happy with Guru and so are we. Lisa is always there for advice so if unsure give her an email or check out their web site, you won't be dissapointed.

Best kibble I've ever found. Skye (american bulldog) was struggling on every food we tried her on dry, wet, raw (it was very stressful, as she's a growing pup) I came across guru and gave them a call, they were extremely knowledgeable and very supportive and sent a free sample for skye to try. She was dancing to get more guru she just loved it (and she's a fuss pot) after 3, 14kg bags skye still loves it. No more struggling or straining to poo and best of all it is healthy and she loves it - tail wagging satisfaction from my girl :) thanks to guru

I have 6 Cavapoo's all under the age of 2 years old, all very fussy eaters and it was so hard to get a food that all 6 would eat plus one has an allergy to most foods itching and biting paws and another had a sensitive tum with runny stools on everything we tried, I tried them on Guru and OMG they all eat every meal and the itchiness and sensitive tums are no more. I have seen a huge difference in their coats too it has become so much more shinier and softer with a definite improvement in texture and it also seems to get less knotty. Every single one of them is excited for their food and believe me we have tried every single food out there to get all 6 to eat and enjoy with no issues. I cannot recommend this food highly enough

I would definitely go for it. I run a Cavapoo group on Facebook and lot's of our members have swapped to Guru with great results and they all love it which is a bonus with these fussy Cavapoo's. One of mine had a terrible allergy, biting his paws and scratching but as soon as I changed him it stopped, another one a a very sensitive tum tried every kibble out there nothing worked but the day I put her on Guru she had a solid poo which has continued. I can't rate it highly enough.

My 10 month old cavapoo started having very loose stools & diarrhoea 7 weeks ago, she was on lilys kitchen at that time then the vets put her on a fish, chicken & pasta diet but still loose stools, she's had tests all done & shown nothing so they think it's an allergy or intolerance so I put her on hills id dry which has really helped but the vet said she needed to go on purina ha but she hates it & is a very fussy eater too, really don't know what to put her on now would appreciate any advise.

I would definitely recommend it. My cavapoo was a fussy little monster until we got the Surf and Turf. Now he loves his dinner, eats it all and no more yukky poos! He is 15 months and we had tried lots of different varieties. This one is the only one he likes and that doesn't give him a poorly tum. Highly recommend it.

Thank you for making a cold pressed dog food this is highly recommended !

Quick update - we have now had our two dogs on this food for 6 weeks and their enthusiasm for it remains as strong as ever. Health wise they are as energetic and bright as they always have been and their coat is lovely and soft. Stools are near perfect - firm but not hard - and easy to clear up after them. I highly recommend this food. After a lot of research we decided to try our two Coton de Tulears on Guru as they had both become very disinterested in their current 80/20 high quality food. Wow what a change! Both of them now can't wait for meal times, clean their bowls each time and seem to be really enjoying it. During the phase over period they would eat the Guru first, only eating the old 80/20 food when all the Guru had gone. We are only two weeks in but so far their enthusiasm is as strong as the first day so fingers crossed we have found a food our dogs love, that is nutritionally good for them and from a local UK company.

I bought this for my Cavapoo as I noticed that he had dry skin, he was itching and his fur seemed dull. I was hoping the cold pressed oils would help. On his old food he didn't seem interested at feeding times. Once I started feeding him Guru his fur became shiny, he stopped itching and now he can't wait for meal times. The only problem is I'd had to move the bag of food from out of the kitchen as he keeps scratching at the door to have more.

My Tibetan Terrier had become quite a faddy eater and was largely leaving his regular kibble at meal times. After a recommendation to try Guru dog food, I have been absolutely thrilled with my TT's response to his new food. He loves the cold pressed food, either dry or soaked, and after just two weeks is absolutely thriving on it. It's very pleasing to see him eagerly await his meal times, as he just licks his bowl clean! After which, he's ready for his regular walks, and dare I say it, passes perfect bowel movements too! 😬 I feel reassured that my pooch has a contented full tummy, whilst at the same time, is gaining all the very best of nutrients his body needs. With a very healthy rating of 4.9 on this website - well, it doesn't get much better than that! Very pleased with Guru dog food and would highly recommend it to anyone!

I got my working cocker pup at 7 weeks old, who decided he wouldn't eat the food the breeder recommended! After 3 days of picking at his food, I was at my wits end. My pal at work suggested this unknown cold pressed dog food, I rang the mobile no, and was met with THE most friendly knowledgeable and passionate about the food person Ive ever known - not only that Lisa brought me a free sample for pupster to try, and stayed to watch him eat it! He was hooked, and still is - his coat is beautiful, his breath doesn't smell, nor do his poo's and they are solid everytime! He's not over active on it and it isn't full of bulked up cereal either! The price is at first glance a little steep, however as you feed less than the general kibble, it works out very very affordable! My boy loves it, so that's good enough for me :-)

At last!! A cold pressed dog food company I can rely on! I have fed my German Shepherd puppy on this stuff since I got her at 8 weeks. This has to be the best dog food around. She loves it either dry or mixed with warm water and absolutely adores the Road Trip Bones which are great when she is on the move. She is so happy on this food - and so am I as there are no messy, sloppy poos!! Worth every penny.

Suitable for all breeds of dogs
Private label (or white label) pet foods are pre-formulated recipes that companies can order from certain factories, add their own label or packaging and retail to the public as their own brand. They are therefore available from numerous suppliers. Click here for more info.
In general, unless your dog has health issues, you probably won't have to worry about these figures. Click here for more information
This is the ingredients list as printed on the packaging or manufacturer's website.
Think of the 'mixing bowl' composition like a recipe - all the ingredients you would need to put in a 'mixing bowl' in order to make the food.
Ingredients have to be listed in descending order of their weight so the higher it appears, the more there is.
Highlighted ingredients
Ingredients that we believe to be controversial or inferior are highlighted in yellow with particularly low grade, highly contentious or excessively vague ingredients in red.
As fed composition
While the 'mixing bowl' composition is useful for knowing what went into the food, it doesn't always reflect what your dog is actually eating. This is because the processes that turn the ingredients into the finished pet food can significantly alter the relative weights of the ingredients.
For this reason we've calculated the approximate 'as fed' percentages for the main ingredient categories in the finished product.
Please note that these figures are very approximate. They are estimates based on the information provided by the manufacturer in the ingredients list so the clearer the terminology and the more percentages they provide, the more accurate our estimates will be. Wherever information is lacking, we always assume the worst.
Ingredient categories
◉ Meat ingredients: includes all meat and fish ingredients except isolated fats/oils.
◉Added oils and fats: includes all isolated oil and fat ingredients.
◉ Carb-rich ingredients: includes all ingredients derived from grains, pseudo-grains, potatoes and other starchy root vegetables, sweet potato and legumes (except whole peas which are categorised under fruit and veg) except for isolated protein and extracted oils. Also includes fibre supplements.
◉ Fruit and veg: includes all whole vegetables and fruits.
◉ Other: all other ingredients. Mostly made up by nutritional supplements and additives.
The dry matter level of a nutrient is the percentage there would be in the food if all of the water was removed.
With water taken out of the equation, these figures allow the nutrient levels of foods of different types (like wet and dry) to be compared on an even playing field.
In general, unless your dog has health issues, you probably won't have to worry about these figures. Click here for more information

78 out of 100 - Good
Our unique product ratings are calculated based on a number of characteristics including the quality and quantity of the stated ingredients, certain nutritional and technological additives and the processing methods used to create the food. They are designed to indicate how beneficial we think a food is likely to be for the majority of dogs when fed on a daily basis for an extended period. Click here for more information
Country of origin: Germany
A technological additive is any substance added to a pet food "for a technological purpose and which favourably affects the characteristics of feed".
While the primary effects of technoloical additives are certainly 'favourable' (increased shelf life in the case of preservatives & antioxidants, better food texture and consistency in the case of gelling agents and thickeners etc.) some have been linked to health problems in pets and should be treated with caution.
Unfortunately, many technological additives do not have to be declared by the manufacturer so just because they do not appear on the label does not necessarily mean they are not in the food. If in doubt, ask the manufacturer directly exactly what technological additives their foods contain.

O C• one year ago
my 2 frenchies absolutly love this stuff, i thought they would be put off by the shape but its gone in seconds.

Gareth Atkinson• 3 years ago
I am having exactly the same issue as Mandy C. Initially liked the food, now won't go anywhere near it. Tried dry, with warm water, with yogurt, playing with it, leaving it. Everything. Not interested. Contacted their customer service who simply didn't want to know. I do not recommend at all.
Mandy C• 3 years ago

They do lovely treats too!😊😊Helen Dibb• 4 years ago
My 4 month old puppy has just started guru and she loves it and goes crazy when she can smell it also her fur is so much softer and poos are solid brilliant service too

Hi,FYI - The price of this food has risen since this price calculator was put together. a 14kg bag is now £53.95.Still definitely recommend though. My dogs have been great on it for a few years now.

Edward Forster• 5 years ago

Zoe E• 6 years ago
Our dog loves Guru! She'd gone off her previous food and some other foods have made her very hyperactive. Changed to Guru and she is now a lovely calm dog and is far more responsive when out on walks. She adores the food, which she has dry for breakfast and dinner but we also soak it to make a mush to fill bones and kongs which she goes nuts for.
She's a high energy dog (German Pointer) who gets lots of exercise so we found we had to slightly increase the amount she gets per day from what is recommended on the Guru website for her weight.

I have bought guru for my 15 month vrry hyper cockapoo , but before starting her on it she has an upset tummy so feeding rice and chicken. When her tummy is better can I put her straight onto guru or should it be gradual.

I'm debating between this and Carnilove for my lab and JRT - any advice? Carnilove is stocked locally which is a plus but ordering Guru wouldn't be much hassle.
Chris McVittie• 6 years ago

Karen• 7 years ago
It's been hit and miss from day one with my Frenchies sensitive tum. I've tried top quality foods and have been feeding him a raw diet for the last 14 months or so, but we still have problems. I've stripped his diet right back and have started feeding him Guru for breakfast and raw for his evening meal. This is the advantage of guru, you can feed alongside a raw and since doing this we've had no squirts, he's gaining weight and he looks forward to meal times time. Totally recommend this product and have told many friends who feed poor quality kibble to give it a try.
Sarah G• 7 years ago

Hi Gillian - this sounds great - we have been using Guru for a few weeks also and our Lab loves it. I wonder if you would consider sharing your recipe for home-made biscuits? Don't worry if you're not keen! Thanks
Ruth
gillian Ruth Bertram• 7 years ago
Hi Ruth
I don't mind at all. Lisa at Guru has a recipe too - which she adapted from mine - which I adapted from a number I found online. I use a tub of peanut butter - but be careful what you buy as I believe some manufacturers use xylitol as a sweetener, which I hear is very dangerous for dogs.Rosie & Pegasus' Guru biscuit treats
Mix together
- 2.5 cups flour (I use spelt) and a bit more to form biscuits and for baking sheet.
- 1t baking powder
- 1 egg
then add
- 1 tub peanut butter (read food labels carefully)
- 1 large baked sweet potato (skin left on)
- 2 cups rehydrated guru
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional - no nutritional value - just makes kitchen smell nice)
- 1 T coconut oil
- 2T honey
Should be a firm consistency when mixed.
- Create biscuit size and shape to suit dog - I create a mixture of large and small. A heaped teaspoon full makes a decent size doggie treat. I flatten biscuits both sides using a fork - doesn't look pretty, but does the job. (I know Lisa makes very smart looking biscuits using a rolling pin and biscuit cutters)
- Heat oven to 180C
- Place biscuits on baking tray in centre of oven (on floured greaseproof paper) for approx 30 minutes.

Our pup is now 14 weeks old and is still as excited as ever when his meals are coming, I love this food and can only assume that he is growing perfectly and looking healthy all because of guru!

I don't usually write reviews, but really wanted to share my positive experience with Guru dog food.
I feel reassured that my pooch has a contented full tummy, whilst at the same time, is gaining all the very best of nutrients his body needs.
