Mixing bowl composition
This is the ingredients list as printed on the packaging or manufacturer's website.
Think of the 'mixing bowl' composition like a recipe - all the ingredients you would need to put in a 'mixing bowl' in order to make the food.
Ingredients have to be listed in descending order of their weight so the higher it appears, the more there is.
Highlighted ingredients
Ingredients that we believe to be controversial or inferior are highlighted in yellow with particularly low grade, highly contentious or excessively vague ingredients in red.
As fed composition
While the 'mixing bowl' composition is useful for knowing what went into the food, it doesn't always reflect what your dog is actually eating. This is because the processes that turn the ingredients into the finished pet food can significantly alter the relative weights of the ingredients.
For this reason we've calculated the approximate 'as fed' percentages for the main ingredient categories in the finished product.
Please note that these figures are very approximate. They are estimates based on the information provided by the manufacturer in the ingredients list so the clearer the terminology and the more percentages they provide, the more accurate our estimates will be. Wherever information is lacking, we always assume the worst.
Ingredient categories
◉ Meat ingredients: includes all meat and fish ingredients except isolated fats/oils.
◉Added oils and fats: includes all isolated oil and fat ingredients.
◉ Carb-rich ingredients: includes all ingredients derived from grains, pseudo-grains, potatoes and other starchy root vegetables, sweet potato and legumes (except whole peas which are categorised under fruit and veg) except for isolated protein and extracted oils. Also includes fibre supplements.
◉ Fruit and veg: includes all whole vegetables and fruits.
◉ Other: all other ingredients. Mostly made up by nutritional supplements and additives.
For more information on any ingredient, please take a look at our Dog Food Ingredient Glossary
The dry matter level of a nutrient is the percentage there would be in the food if all of the water was removed.
With water taken out of the equation, these figures allow the nutrient levels of foods of different types (like wet and dry) to be compared on an even playing field.

86 out of 100 - Excellent
Our unique product ratings are calculated based on a number of characteristics including the quality and quantity of the stated ingredients, certain nutritional and technological additives and the processing methods used to create the food. They are designed to indicate how beneficial we think a food is likely to be for the majority of dogs when fed on a daily basis for an extended period. Click here for more information
Country of origin: Germany
A technological additive is any substance added to a pet food "for a technological purpose and which favourably affects the characteristics of feed".
The most common categories of technological additives include preservatives and antioxidants, gelling agents and thickeners and probiotics.
While the primary effects of technoloical additives are certainly 'favourable' (increased shelf life in the case of preservatives & antioxidants, better food texture and consistency in the case of gelling agents and thickeners etc.) some have been linked to health problems in pets and should be treated with caution.
Unfortunately, many technological additives do not have to be declared by the manufacturer so just because they do not appear on the label does not necessarily mean they are not in the food. If in doubt, ask the manufacturer directly exactly what technological additives their foods contain.

I’m confused about the feeding amount. Previously the daily recommended amount for the beef was 270g and now it’s 200g. Nothing has changed with him. Male, 30kg

Hi! This is most likely to do with a change in the caloric content of the new, upgraded recipe. Please feel free to get in touch with us directly at houston@gorocketo.com and we can provide more information on recipes and your dogs feeding guide.
Thanks, Team Rocketo

Hi, we're sorry you're not satisfied with our product. We'd love to find a solution for you - if you drop the customer support team a message - houston@gorocketo.com
They'll also have advice on preparing the product - as you can control the amount of water you add there's no need for it to be sloppy. The team will be happy to help!

This contains dehydrated red algae - carrageenan is extracted from red algae, so, unless I am mistaken, this appears to be a very contentious and unsafe ingredient. Confirmation or denial from Rocketo would be appreciated

Lipstick on a pig.
The packaging and ethos of this business are wonderful and their claims are almost too good to be true... The food looks nothing like it does on their website (see pictures) to which they respond ‘because the product is natural’. Natural isn’t an excuse for poor quality control. The food has an incredibly foul smell, the same as a manure spread field. My dogs reluctantly ate this for a few day and now flat out refuse and I don’t blame them, it’s just powder and the claims that each bag makes 4x as much is just a simply a lie. Adding water to this powder, just creates mush, they will tell you to add less water but it still does not increase in size as claims.
Customer service take no responsibility for poor quality or smell and ignore queries about product not increasing in size. This is a business that has the chance to do really well but will not accept any criticism at all and make excuses for shortfalls. Don’t bother wasting your money.

Hi Kay, thank you for your review.
I’m sorry to hear you had a bad experience with our food.
Our meat is coming from few different suppliers, thus smell of recipes might change slightly, however the quality of it is meeting standards. Drying process is followed at all times, but also we do check quality of individual ingredients but also we perform lab tests on both ingredients and final mix. If any of the products would not meet quality standards, we would for sure sideline them.
As you've probably been advised, it can take up to 6 weeks to transition your dog to the new food. So please give it some time and try different recipes, see if your dog likes one better than the other. Here's a link to our blog post on with some tips: https://gorocketo.com/how-t...
1kg = 4kg is to explain that we use 4kg of fresh ingredients to create our final dehydrated recipe weighing 1kg. After rehydration, the food will bulk up by a factor of 2-3 times (depending on the recipe) as some of our ingredients contain very low levels of moisture, such as seeds.
We would appreciate another chance to earn your business. Please could you get in touch with us on houston@gorocketo.com and we will a replacement if this was not yet done.

Wanted to try this a it looks very promising - great ingredients, recyclable packaging, but the HQ listing as UK is misleading. The food is produced and then shipped from Lithuania, so not quite as environmentally friendly a of feeding as it appears to be!
Raphy Janet Westby• 3 years ago
We just found this too. After a 7 working day delivery wait and no availability to call anyone I wanted to see where it was made and found it was Lithuania which certainly doesn't tick the environmentally friendly box as much as they'd like it too.

Hi Janet, thank you for your feedback.
Our food has a long shelf life and is easy to store. We always recommend to keep some stock at home by purchasing more food less frequently.
We are planning to release carbon footprint report in near future!
Our products are dehydrated, which means lower shipping volumes. Our air-dried food weighs 4 times less than fresh food does, so saving 75% on the carbon footprint when also shipping in responsible packaging. We also purchase our ingredients from closest possible places.
Also, we do not use caged animals or those with restricted movement. We either use organically raised animals, which have by far the highest welfare standards of any farmed animal or we use wild animals which means they are living wild. Our fish all are ethically caught which means no jets that devastate the fish populations. Animal welfare is extremely important to us.

Tried this as a cheaper alternative to Ziwipeak however the cost given here is misleading and it will cost twice as much. Our dog did like it and we preferred it to Pure which is the another dry food we have tried as it is easier to reconstitute. However due to cost we will go back to Ziwipeak.

Have you tried Innocent Hound air-dried complete food?
I was looking to see if they were listed on this website but they're not - they would be worth a go. Much cheaper than Ziwi Peak too.
Rocketo Philip Lamb• 2 years ago
Hi Philip, we use only natural ingredients: our proteins are either organic or sustainably sourced; all our ingredients are top quality, organically certified thus the price is accordingly higher. Feeding Rocketo every other day would also be beneficial to your dog :)
