Dog treats / Re: Do you feed treats to your dog?

Wookie only ever has home made treats. There are dozens of great recipes for them, and i know exactly what she is eating!

They are so cheap and easy to make too!

One treat I make that I've never known any dog to refuse is Sardine and Oat Biscuits. In fact, one Husky at the park who doesn't like other people very much fell in love with me over these! They are SO easy.

Two tins of sardines in oil.
1 crushed clove or garlic (optional)
60 g Wholemeal flour
300 g Oats.

Empty the two tins of sardines, including the oil, into a bowl. Mash thoroughly with a fork. Add flour, garlic and oats and knead into a dough, adding a little water or oil to bind if needed. Roll out, and cut out biscuits. Cook at 190 celcius for 25-30 mins, until golden brown.

They freeze well.  :)

The only dry food Wookie will eat happily is Pedigree Puppy, which is bloody awful stuff. Tried her on Arden Grange, Harringtons, Laughing Dog, Burns, Burgess, Hills (which she was weaned on) and she turns her nose up at all of them.

We only use dry food for her to have if she gets hungry while we're at work, but are hoping that if she finds one she really likes we can slowly switch her over to all dry.

With that in mind I have just ordered a 4 variety trial pack of Wolf of Wilderness from Zooplus. It gets rave reviews, and even my totally grain free. It also has a 61% meat content, and comes in four different varieties, Duck, Lamb, Salmon and Venison.

It's due to arrive by Thursday, so I will post an update once it arrives about how she reacts to it.

New member just saying Hello, and introducing our little Yorkie, Wookie.

Wookie was 1 yesterday, and is absolutely the best thing that has happened to us in the last twelve months. Since she first came into our home, on the 25th June last year, she has brought us nothing but joy.  :)

Photo of the birthday girl yesterday!
