Title: All about our dog's DRY food -What type of DRY food are you feeding nowadays ?
Post by: Meg on Mar 02, 2017, 01:20
The various ways that dry dog food is prepared and processed gives us greater choices to find what suits our individual dogs. I wonder if it may be interesting to learn of the types of dry food we are feeding our dogs nowadays; and if you'd like to take part then you have up to 6 votes each!

Please say if there is an option missing in the poll and I'll happily add it.  :)
Thanks in advance to all who vote.

I ticked the two cold pressed options as I sometimes feed it as a meal and i sometimes use it as a treat. I don't tend to stick to a particular brand. It is often if somebody has some they want to split as 5kg is too much for my purposes. I sometimes get the cheaper ones which come in 2kg packs.

Thanks for voting Tinyplanets and for your post too. We now have so many different types of dry foods available so the results of this poll should be interesting.

It is surprising that cold pressed is ahead at the moment. That probably reflects the low number of voters. We need more votes so if anyone is reading, please log on and vote.

I have changed to cold pressed after doing a bit of research and looking at the reviews on this site. My pug is on Markus Muhle  and doing very well on it. His coat is beautiful and lovely and soft. I also give it to him as a treat as well as raw carrots ,blueberries ,bananas and apples. I will also try Lukullus the next time I order as I've read that it's good to get them used to different foods so that's the plan. Will be interested to see the results  ;)

The only dry food Wookie will eat happily is Pedigree Puppy, which is bloody awful stuff. Tried her on Arden Grange, Harringtons, Laughing Dog, Burns, Burgess, Hills (which she was weaned on) and she turns her nose up at all of them.

We only use dry food for her to have if she gets hungry while we're at work, but are hoping that if she finds one she really likes we can slowly switch her over to all dry.

With that in mind I have just ordered a 4 variety trial pack of Wolf of Wilderness from Zooplus. It gets rave reviews, and even better...to my mind....is totally grain free. It also has a 61% meat content, and comes in four different varieties, Duck, Lamb, Salmon and Venison.

It's due to arrive by Thursday, so I will post an update once it arrives about how she reacts to it.

I haven't heard of Wolf of Wilderness - I hope that a Wookie likes it. Pet owners can waste an awful lot of money trying to find the correct food. Luckily mine will eat anything.
Cold pressed is still ahead and most likely reflects the lack of votes and the people who have voted because these products probably only take up a small percentage of the dry dog food market. I don't have any figures though.

Currently cold-pressed as complete dry food. I hope that's a good thing since a lot of people are as well.

Thank you Cappymiato and William and yes indeed as shown by this poll (thus far  ;) ) the  dry food mostly fed to our dogs nowadays  is COLD PRESSED.

I wonder if this trend may change as others add their vote to this poll, or if indeed cold pressed remains a favoured choice for most!

I feed Lukkullus ,  having looked at the differences between extruded and cold pressed

Tried various brands, have fed CSJ for a while, but that began to have a lot of dust in a bag, so I stopped that

Dogs do well on Lukkullus, they like it,  happy days :)

Currently feeding barking heads. Tbh second only to lilys kitchen. Loosing faith in Turk/lamb meal based food. New ava has more meal and less fresh chicken. Bad step for me. Wainwright's has dropped price so I'm not convinced the recipe hasnt. Fishmonger's and fish for dogs is still holding well. Pedigree has a new "natural" brand don't be fooled and bakers is even trying the natural range. Hoping they fail miserably.
