I have been feeding my dog on Hills dry food for two weeks and have recently changed to Skinners puppy food.
The former food was a goodie bag given by vet who gave her jabs and who we are registered with.
The change to Skinners was suggested by local dog health food shop that specialises in nutritional food a few steps up from supermarket stuff
Hello and welcome to the forum. I assume that you are feeding Skinner's Puppy - the review for that product is here. (https://www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk/dog-food-reviews/0010/skinners-puppy) The other Skinner's product that I found in the Directory is Field and Trial Puppy. (https://www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk/dog-food-reviews/0299/skinners-field-and-trial-puppy)
Most decent quality puppy foods have a protein content of circa 30% and higher - the Puppy version only has 26%. Field and Trial has 29% but several red ingredients. Neither has a named meat source at the top of the ingredient list. Have a look at this thread (https://www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk/forum/general-discussion/1/the-principles-of-selecting-a-suitable-food-for-your-dog/709/) which explains what to look for when buying dog food.
Is your puppy doing well on Skinner's? If so, then you may want to continue with the food. The Dog Food Directory has reviews of many products and there is lots of information on this website. Your dog is very young and it can pay to do a bit of homework in order to (hopefully) help the dog to lead a long and healthy life.
Hello AlistairZoe and welcome to the forum!
Might I also draw attention to the extremely useful "Dog Feeding Guide" - an excellent article found elsewhere on the allaboutdogfood website.
The first part of the article has general feeding guidelines, and in addition there are also explanations of dog food labelling and dog food nutrients. Plus guidance regarding feeding dogs of different ages, feeding fussy or greedy dogs, and feeding dogs with minor health problems.
In particular there is a section about feeding puppies which may be useful for you.
Here is the link to the article:
