General dog chat / Give a Dog a Genome

Apologies if this has already been posted about, it came up at a health testing clinic for older dogs that I attended yesterday (for my old Labradors, not me  ;) ).

The AHT are running this project, which will give them vital data 'in the bank' to use when they are researching genetic conditions in dogs.  At the moment, there are 75 breeds involved, and they will be looking to roll out a second phase next year.

It was a really interesting talk, if anyone has the chance to go along to a similar presentation I would highly recommend it.

Hello, I run a small pet services warehouse in Thurlstone, South Yorkshire, I hope it's ok to post a bit about it here.

I'm absolutely passionate about my dogs, including what they eat.  I feed a mixture of raw and some home cooked, but am open minded about food as long as it's good quality, I know not everyone wants to raw feed, or even that it suits their dog(s).

I refuse to stock certain products that are harmful to dogs, including cooked bones, dental chews that are high in salt, and (even though they are popular brands) foods that are high in colourants and additives.

As well as dog food, we stock cat food, small pet food and bedding, toys, wild bird products and foods, some lovely and very individual greeting cards, gifts, and even art work.  We also offer dog grooming and training services,

Thank you for reading.

Introductions / Hello from Thurlstone, Yorkshire

Hello from me and my six dogs (three rabbits and 15 chickens).  I have a pet services warehouse (quite small), and am passionate about canine nutrition.  My own dogs are raw fed with some home cooked, aged from 3 up to 11 1/2.  They are three Labradors, one flat coated retriever, a fox hound and working cocker spaniel, and the last one is the one that is always causing mischief!!!
