Manufacturer's product description

" So, you have a puppy? Firstly, we're jealous — secondly, we're thrilled you've come across our puppy food.

Canine Choice is a complete, high quality kibble packed with real meat, health-protecting mineral extras and natural ingredients, carefully chosen to help your puppy grow, learn, and above all stay happy and healthy.

"If you want something done right, do it yourself"— words our resident vet, Andrew, really took to heart when he decided he'd had enough of substandard dog food and created Canine Choice. Puppies don't need cheap fillers and allergens like beef, wheat and soya — they need a meat-rich, high quality, balanced diet, and pet parents need to know they're getting the best possible value for their money. Bought this food as it scored highly on here for a dry dog food. We fed this to our 3m golden retriever puppy but found, similar to a previous comment, that his first stool of the day was solid but the remainder of stools would be mousse like. His farts were extremely smelly. We have now transitioned to Royal Canin GR puppy. First week 30/70 mix now on 70/30 mix and his stools are harder, less frequent and NO MORE FARTS!

The CC seemed really good but we think it was too rich for our GR.

Canine choice large puppy chicken:Too rich for our Labrador puppy, first 1/3 of her stools are firmish, after that the rest is like a mousse and yellow- indicative of too much protein for her to handle. A shame because composition of product looks excellent and she only needs to eat 80% of pack reccomendations to put on weight at the right rate while growing. She loves the taste, but it clearly disagrees with her. Tried adding a bit of oat bran to get more fibre into her, to no avail.Just switched to James Wellbeloved and her stools have improved- less flatulence on the new stuff too.
