I'm trying to decide between this and Barking Heads for my Labrador

My puppy absolutely LOVES this dog food! I use the smaller sized one as training rewards, she enjoys it so much! She has this one as her main food although I'm not sure if it really fills her up as she always seems hungry. She has never had any stomach problems.

My dog loves this food but she only likes the small size kibble, not the bigger size. I bought the 2kg bag to test her on it which she loooves. So I bought the 11kg bag but the kibble was bigger in size which my dog didn't like (so fussy). Does anyone know if any of the sizes in between still use the small kibble? She goes through a 2kg bag once a week so it's annoying to have to keep buying so regularly!

People who have expressed diarrhoea, sorry to say, have transitioned their pup WAY too fast to the Acana food. Quite simply, it is a case of very very slowly adding more and more of the Acana in with the existing food over AT LEAST a period of 2-3 weeks. My pup started on Skinners (breeder) and was getting 40g, 4 times a day - So, I started with 35g Skinners and 5g of Acana for a week, and gradually increased the Acana by 5 or 10g if her stool was coming out firm.
This is a protein rich food - and likely causes of diarrhoea are definitely caused by not doing this. All the people who claim that this is a rubbish product because their pup gets diarrhoea need educating,

Hi, we also have had some diarrhea issues with our 8 month old Golden Retriever.
Although it is hard to determine the underlying cause of an upset stomach the following made us change our minds about how well rated this brand should be on this website.
There is a class action lawsuit towards Champion Petfoods in the USA (over 15 states).
Allegedly they have found traces of Arsenic, Lead, Mercury and BPA in the Acana foods (as well as Orijen, their more upscale brand)You guys seems to do thorough research on your food, this might be an opportunity to dig in and change your rating around this brand. Class action was filed February 2019.We have switched...

if you have read the actual reports etc on this you'll find there is ZERO factual information to prove that the food is in fact the cause. I have done a HUGE amount of research on this and it's pure rubbish.

Tried my 4 month old lab/husky cross on this and it gave him diarrhoea. Thought it might be a dead mouse I found him with so put him on chicken and rice. As soon as I re-introduced this, diarrhoea again. Reading online reviews, there seem to be a number of dogs with similar issues.

I know dogs who eat rubbish dog food and are in perfect condition. Dogs eat other animals poo. My puppy likes this food but prefers all dried food mixed with a bit of wet. I really am not sure buying the best makes any difference at all but im giving it a go. Give it a go. It is better than some bland dry foods.

My two pups, a mini dachshund and a medium german shepherd/collie cross, were on Acana Puppy and Junior for three months. However, two weeks ago, at the same time, they both suffered from bad tummies. I stopped their usual diet of chicken and Acana puppy and junior and just gave them chicken and rice. Things improved and reintroduced a few biscuits, poorly again. So waited a bit longer and introduced pumpkin puree to soothe the tums. Got everything back to normal and reintroduced biscuits - no no again. So, it occurred to me that my large plastic foil bag of Acana had been open for nearly three months (although tightly sealed and left in a cool cupboard). I made contact with the manufacturers and they tell me that they would expect a bag to be consumed within 6 to 8 weeks but that the food would still be edible until the best before date, i.e. May 2018. Well I have to say that none of that appears on the bag. Also, the food is certainly not edible and is, in fact, causing health issues. I have now started using Forthglade which presents in a paper bag and says on the bag to keep it in a cool place and allow to breathe! All is back to normal. So, what I am saying is that, although the food is great with great reviews, either buying too much or being open too long allows for major problems.

I got this for my BT and he hates it. I'm gutted as it was so expensive. He ate Royal Canin with great gusto but I changed after reading here it wasn't recommended.

Our chihuahuas have a fantastic shiny coat on the blue bag of Acana, they absolutely love it. Today I also bought some Orijen to mix in and gradually change to the 80:20:0 whole prey puppy, small breed. So glad I became aware of what my furbabes were eating. It's absolutely shocking what is in the brands which people pick up in the supermarket or even the vet.

Our puppy Holly is doing very well on this food. I am very happy with all the ingredients and she is very healthy. This is, in my opinion, one of the best puppy kibbles around.
