Rice - brown / whole grain in dog food

Rice - brown / whole grain

Rice comes in many forms, from long grain and basmati varieties to shorter forms like pearl rice and short-grain rice. The nutritional characteristics of most forms of rice is very similar, and most varieties can be found in both their whole, brown form and their polished, white form.

Brown rice (or whole-grain rice as it is also known) is widely regarded as a 'superfood' for humans and as long as it is well cooked, it is easily digested by dogs. It contains a whole host of natural nutrients including three B vitamins, iron, manganese, selenium, magnesium and omega-3 oils. It is also a good source of dietary fibre which is important in maintaining intestinal health. It is the grain of choice for most British natural dog food producers.

I'm sorry Biker Graham, but as others have pointed out Brown Rice is considered a wholegrain product, the Wikipedia article was correct, but I also present an article regarding diets from the Mayo Clinic in America, which is considered to be the number one hospital in the entire US. If the Mayo Clinic and it's 4,000 or so doctor's agree that it is a wholegrain, I'm going to take their word for it.I'm not sure what you mean that brown rice is white rice with a stain, but that is also incorrect.https://www.mayoclinic.org/...

Brown rice is not whole grain. What it is is white rice with a stain, completely different from whole grain rice. Most people when shopping will buy brown rice thinking its better for them, wrong, you need the words WHOLE GRAIN.

Wikipedia explanation ------ Sorry your still wrong.Brown or Hulled Rice is unmilled or partly milled rice, ,a natural grain that remains unbleached .It has a mild nutty flavor,is chewier than white rice and becomes rancid more quickly.Any rice including sticky rice ,long grain or short grain rice may be eaten as brown rice.
WHOLEGRAIN will be fully unmilled, hence the roughage......!
All very confusing i know but WHOLEGRAIN is the one to have not brown.
Brown and white rice are nutritionally the same.
