Mixing bowl composition
This is the ingredients list as printed on the packaging or manufacturer's website.
Think of the 'mixing bowl' composition like a recipe - all the ingredients you would need to put in a 'mixing bowl' in order to make the food.
Ingredients have to be listed in descending order of their weight so the higher it appears, the more there is.
Highlighted ingredients
Ingredients that we believe to be controversial or inferior are highlighted in yellow with particularly low grade, highly contentious or excessively vague ingredients in red.
As fed composition
While the 'mixing bowl' composition is useful for knowing what went into the food, it doesn't always reflect what your dog is actually eating. This is because the processes that turn the ingredients into the finished pet food can significantly alter the relative weights of the ingredients.
For this reason we've calculated the approximate 'as fed' percentages for the main ingredient categories in the finished product.
Please note that these figures are very approximate. They are estimates based on the information provided by the manufacturer in the ingredients list so the clearer the terminology and the more percentages they provide, the more accurate our estimates will be. Wherever information is lacking, we always assume the worst.
Ingredient categories
◉ Meat ingredients: includes all meat and fish ingredients except isolated fats/oils.
◉Added oils and fats: includes all isolated oil and fat ingredients.
◉ Carb-rich ingredients: includes all ingredients derived from grains, pseudo-grains, potatoes and other starchy root vegetables, sweet potato and legumes (except whole peas which are categorised under fruit and veg) except for isolated protein and extracted oils. Also includes fibre supplements.
◉ Fruit and veg: includes all whole vegetables and fruits.
◉ Other: all other ingredients. Mostly made up by nutritional supplements and additives.
For more information on any ingredient, please take a look at our Dog Food Ingredient Glossary
The dry matter level of a nutrient is the percentage there would be in the food if all of the water was removed.
With water taken out of the equation, these figures allow the nutrient levels of foods of different types (like wet and dry) to be compared on an even playing field.

90 out of 100 - Excellent
Our unique product ratings are calculated based on a number of characteristics including the quality and quantity of the stated ingredients, certain nutritional and technological additives and the processing methods used to create the food. They are designed to indicate how beneficial we think a food is likely to be for the majority of dogs when fed on a daily basis for an extended period. Click here for more information
Country of origin: United Kingdom
A technological additive is any substance added to a pet food "for a technological purpose and which favourably affects the characteristics of feed".
The most common categories of technological additives include preservatives and antioxidants, gelling agents and thickeners and probiotics.
While the primary effects of technoloical additives are certainly 'favourable' (increased shelf life in the case of preservatives & antioxidants, better food texture and consistency in the case of gelling agents and thickeners etc.) some have been linked to health problems in pets and should be treated with caution.
Unfortunately, many technological additives do not have to be declared by the manufacturer so just because they do not appear on the label does not necessarily mean they are not in the food. If in doubt, ask the manufacturer directly exactly what technological additives their foods contain.

I’ve been buying Luna & Me adult patties for my 1 yo miniature dachshund for around 3 months now. I used AADF to decide which food to buy when I wanted to switch to raw feeding, as my pup was having regular stomach aches - no more! On the whole, his tummy issues are resolved, his coat is softer and shinier, his teeth and ears are always clean - it’s been great for him. I love the 100g patties because I don’t need to handle the meat, just pop it in his bowl and chop it up a little, it’s so convenient. For 5 weeks worth of food (200g per day) and a couple of bags of treats, plus delivery, I’m around £60. The food looks appetising, is delivered on time and well frozen, and my dog seems to love it. Happy customer!

Again trusting AADF rating this food was rated 99% a couple of months ago and now 89%??? AADF really need to properly explain their re evaluation. The cinic in me is starting to think they are not truly independant. Bella and duke went from 98% to 75????? Please explain?

Just asking for abit of advise here.
AADF is saying Luna & Me isn't a complete dog food on there stickers but the Luna & Me website and their descriptions say it is a complete food.
I want to get this for my dog but if its not a complete food I'll have a look for something else.
Is anyone able to help?
Minky Haydn Bleach• 7 months ago
I thought the same but it unless AADF believe a dog needs grains in their diet luna and me does seem to cover all elements (apart from eggs) . My dog has started to shake and i also found hard stone in one of her meals which could have been bad. I no longer would recommend :(

At LUNA & me, we take pride in formulating recipes that cater to all of the essential nutrients necessary to the dietary needs of dogs and cats. Our recipes are meticulously hand-crafted to include vital nutrients such as calcium, phosphorus, fat, protein, as well as a comprehensive selection of vitamins and minerals.
Regarding the recent fluctuations in our ratings on All About Dog Food's website, we want to assure you that these changes do not reflect any alterations in the nutritional composition or quality of our products. Despite the shifts in ratings, we remain steadfast in our commitment to producing the finest quality pet food available in the UK, and our recipes remain unchanged.
Regrettably, it appears that All About Dog Food has shifted its review criteria, placing greater emphasis on labelling rather than nutritional content and product quality. This shift has impacted not only our ratings but also those of other manufacturers, irrespective of the actual quality of the products.
Upon thorough review of our records, we were unable to locate any transactions or correspondence associated with your name or purchase history. Ensuring the safety and excellence of our products is of utmost importance to us, and we are keen to address any concerns promptly.

Monty has been having Luna & Me dinners since we bought him home at 8 weeks, he is now 6. This food and company is amazing in all ways. The food looks really fresh and has no smell, the patties are sooo easy to use. I don't have to "handle" the meat as the patties are ready portioned and with me being a vegetarian means I can feed Monty his correct diet with ease. There is a really good range of flavours, he loves the Beefy Beef especially. When we bought Monty home being our first dog and me being a vegetarian I had lots of questions, but Sammy was fantastic and really helped us in the early days getting Monty settled with his diet, nothing was too much trouble even though I must have been a pain in the neck :) Monty coat is so soft and shiny, his teeth are perfect, even the vet tells me what amazing condition he is in. He is a happy, healthy little dog who lives for mealtimes and I cannot ask for more than that. Monty and I thoroughly recommend Luna & Me

I have been using Luna & Me for a while now and it is in my opinion the best raw food available (and I have tried most of them). You can see the quality when you open the packet. The patties make life so easy to give the right amount each day and there is plenty of flavours to choose from. My little cockapoo loves his mealtimes, it is gone in seconds. We are regularly complemented on how soft his coat is and even the vet on his last booster visit had to concede how fantastic his condition was. I would not change now, Beau is very happy and so am I.

Please, please whoever is reading this.. Avoid this dodgy company at all costs! We have been with them for some time and everything was fine, my cats loved the meat and it was always fresh. Unfortunately, on our most recent order, they have clearly mixed old and fresh meat! There are big bits of old dark gray meat! And the smell is horrible, never in my life I have smelled something like this! Just few hours after defrosting.
They are refusing to take any action and are ignoring my husband's emails. We have lost about 70 on meat that can not be eaten by our cats, we cant send it back and most likely we won't see our money back!
I have never came across such an awful costumer service.. They don't want to take any responsibility. They could just apologise, send us return form and our money back or new fresh batch and it wouldn't be a problem. Now they have lost costumers, not just us but also people we have recommended them to. We will also take future action against this company.

I have been using L&M since we got our Lhasa apso puppy, it took about a week to transition him from kibble to raw. I was initially worried when I got him as he wasn’t food orientated (how to train a puppy who doesn’t care about food) but that all changed with Luna and Me as he is now obsessed. The patties are fantastic and he is now on the ‘growing up box’ and the customer support is fantastic as they also helped with explaining how best to transition him onto this. Not one delivery issue and I and more importantly my pup could not be happier.
racheast• 2 years ago
Hi, how do you know how much to feed at each meal? would it be one pattie? my dog is a small breed 7kg. And I assume with this you don't need to add any kind of hard biscuit? Thanks!
K Ward racheast• 2 years ago
They have a portion calculator on their website to gauge how much to initially start feeding your dog. I have a 5.5kg pug (not spayed) who has 1x patty per meal which its a bit more than recommended but she's quite active so I guess you can tailor it to your pup using the calculator as a guideline. Still works out about £1 a day for her food which is good.
Nearly all of their recipes are complete so no supplements/additional food is needed (I think there is an article by AllAboutDogFood on why they can't list this food as complete on their website and why regulations need to change). I don't think it is recommended to feed raw and kibble in the same meal due to the difference in digestion time for each food.
Hope C• 3 years ago
Hi, your page says this is not nutritionally complete but the food itself says complete raw food - can you please clarify why it isn’t listed as complete on your website ? Thanks.
All About Dog Food Hope C• 3 years ago
Hi Hope. The nutritionally complete logo means that a food adheres to FEDIAF nutritional recommendations for complete foods. FEDIAF compliance has both pros and cons which you can read about here: https://www.allaboutdogfood.... I hope that helps
Lou Richardson Hope C• 2 years ago
The ranges are all nutritionally complete other than if you choose to buy the “bare” range and add your own veg etc. adult, superblends and puppy range are all completes.
Lou Richardson• 4 years ago
I have been using Luna and Me for two years for my cockapoo Skye and I can’t recommend them highly enough. It looks good enough for me to eat and is in fact all human grade top quality meat which is totally nutritionally balanced. Unlike other brands who charge an extra premium rate if they want any superfood ingredients added, this food has them all in as standard and at a very reasonable price. The food is rated no.1 in the UK for a reason and has cured my pup of several minor ailments from needing glands emptied to irritated ears, and she hasn’t been to the vets once since going on this food where once she was a regular! She’s never looked or been healthier. It’s also been a game changer for us because our pup is extremely fussy but she wolfs this down due to the quality and range of flavours of the food. Sammy the owner and creator of the food is extremely helpful and qualified as a nutritionist amongst other things and has advised me over messenger herself about so many things some of which aren’t even food related, she is an amazing resource to customers. Their food, reliability and customer service has been second to none and you can manage your own on repeat account easily online. I’ll never change from this food!!!

Just working out the costs. For mine, it looks like a £34 box will last only 18 days so the costings seem out to me which if I only had one dog would be o.k. but with two, it makes a massive difference to the food bill. Still looking at options.

Could you please add the 4pawsraw dog food range. They are a U.K. small company who sell Raw food, Complete 80/10/10 Raw - and also they sell natural treats such as ‘dried beef liver’ and a high quality Dry dog food range. They would be happy to talk over email & provide any information you may need. https://4pawsraw.co.uk/
anna walsh• 5 years ago
The quality of the food is good BUT - in the short time I used their repeat order system there were several occasions when food did not arrive on time, and orders contained substituted items. (Apparently they make small batches and can run out at anytime, meaning there is no guarantee that you will receive what you order). The problems mainly occurred around Bank Holidays. These problems meant that on several occasions I had to buy alternative products from a local shop because I had run out. Their website says “Order by 1.00pm for next day delivery” .... but having ordered before 1.00pm on a Thursday, my delivery did not arrive till Tuesday. It is a real shame that I will not be ordering from Luna & Me again, because my dogs do like the food, but the service has failed me too many times now. If it were a brand I could pick up from a local store then delivery delays would not be such a problem, but Luna & Me is a small company that, in my opinion, is now in a position where demand is outstripping capacity.

We've been feeding our almost 3year old Staffie on L&M for over a year now. He had lots of allergy problems the first year and a half after feeding him premium quality kibble and other premium barf food. And we've found that L&M worked wonders on him and his allergies. They have a great sortiment and the customer service has been great so far. We would highly recommend this company!

Started my bulldog puppy on Luna and me puppy power patties, he absolutely loves it! Soon as I walk to the fridge he gets so excited he struggles to contain himself! Spoke to Sammy on the phone and she was so warm and friendly, she answered every question I had with a non rushed answer, she took the time out of her (I can imagine) very busy day to talk to me and that alone makes me want to keep ordering from luna and me. Oh and delivery has been amazing for me, everyone on time (next day) keep up the good work Sammy and team!
T Theo• 7 years ago
I transferred my cocker spaniel boy to the puppy power patties soon after I picked him up at 8 weeks old and was very pleased. He loved them, everyone made comments on his beautiful shining chocolate & tan coat and how active and healthy he is, including the vet who told me to continue whatever I was doing as he was in great condition. When he was around 9months old I thought I would try another raw company who others were very pleased with and did seem to have a choice of more flavours. I was a bit shocked when this came as it was sloppy, full of blood and quite smelly. Reese did get on ok with it to start with but after a few weeks he started to turn his nose up at it and was more inclined to eat the orijen I kept for treats or emergencies, I thought he was going off raw food! I decided to risk it and go back to Luna and me and buy the dinner patties. That was 4 months ago and have not looked back since. He loves Luna and me, it has a good texture, doesn't smell horrible and not full of blood. I love the patties which I find so easy to use and they are also in bags that reseal. I am aware there were some issues over delivery as they explained below, but I have never had any issues and always find them very helpful. I would highly recommend Luna & me.
Jo Young T Theo• 7 years ago
Hi Can I ask how you made the switch for your pup, my pup will be coming to us on a dry food, I would like to switch to Luna and Me but not sure how best to introduce or how soon.
T Theo Jo Young• 7 years ago
Hi Jo
Reese was on 4 meals of kibble a day when I got him. I started to replace the morning meal with Luna and me, feeding kibble the rest of the day. After a few days and once I was sure he was settled with that, I then replaced the midday meal and so on until all his meals were raw. The whole transition took about 2 weeks. I never mixed the raw and kibble in the same meal and started raw with the morning meals due to the different rates dogs digest raw and kibble. The kibble taking longer so left that to digest over night.
Hope it all goes well for you, it is a very good complete raw food and Sammy is also very helpful if you have any worries.

Dear Customer,I wanted to update you on our recent delivery delays and to say a heartfelt THANK-YOU! You supported Luna & Me during, what turned out to be, our most challenging chapter since we launched and we are so happy that you are part of the Luna & Me family. The delays stem from somewhat unforeseen circumstances surrounding a significant machinery upgrade being installed at our main production kitchens. We had high hopes for this machinery before we installed it, but we didn't expect the technical issues that actually materialised. These issues caused a delay in production, which in turn caused a back-log of orders. For those of you who waited to get your order, you have my sincere thanks for your patience. When I launched Luna & Me I hoped for growth, but I didn't expect the demand that actually materialised. Our focus has always been and remains, quality, and we will never drop our standards; quality after all, is about doing the right thing when no one is looking. I believe in creating a better product and I care about what your pets eat and where it comes from. I only make products I’m excited to feed to my own dogs, that they’re excited to eat, and that make a meaningful, positive difference in their lives.During the delays, it quickly became obvious that we needed to increase our manufacturing capacity in order to meet demand and maintain our standards. So at the same time, I made the decision to bring forward a move into larger premises, install the best machinery and employ three new members of staff, to ensure that we continue to bring you the very best food and treats. Please know our customers are top of mind in every decision we make and every service we provide at Luna & Me. We are working hard to restore our high customer service standards and when running smoothly, the new system will result in better service and much faster deliveries to you.If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 01892 322069 or hello@lunaandme.com.Sammy & Luna

I've ordered 5 times over the last 5 months, my fussy Cockapoo loves it. However, delivery is shocking, 3 of my 5 orders have been messed up and I've had to take time of work for rearranged deliverys. The first month there was a cock up due to internet problems at their end and it wasn't dispatched until a couple of days later, the second time was the breakdown of their machine (which happens but their communcation was HOPELESS!!) and I waited weeks, this month apparently is was DPD's fault and it arrived a day late. No matter how much he likes it I won't be ordering again, such a shame. I notice that you can't leave a comment on their Facebook page now without them approving it, that tells a story in iteslf.

Luna & Me are great, my Miniature Schnauzer loves these patties, delivery has been for me 2 out of 3 good deliveries, bad one due to the driver basically not being bothered because his shift finished, this was on a Friday so didn't get until Monday as you can guess it was defrosted, I know Luna and Me had a few problems with production, which I was kept informed about, I buy bulk nicely packaged, I have looked around at comparable raw food and there isn't much out there to compete against them in price and quality, unless you made it yourself which I had to when they had their production problems, tip: buy another freezer and buy bulk, if you have an active small dog don't buy 50g patties, buy 100g they are a lot cheaper, also look at what each flavour is for e.g. Underweight, overweight etc.

I've received two orders form Luna and Me and another is scheduled for tomorrow. The delivery company is interlink and they are fab; you get confirmation of delivery date from Luna and Me with contact details of Interlink if you wish to change the date or ask them to leave in a safe place. Ive not had cause to complain at any point, in fact I can only commend them on deliveries. The food is beautifully packaged in poly boxes with ice packets which keeps the food frozen. The food is fabulous! Extremely palatable for even my pickiest eater, it looks great to me, (even though I'm a vegetarian, and my other half who is a meat eater thought they looked so appetising that he wanted the patties with onion rings and chips !!), what comes out the other end is testament to the food too, (two of my dogs suffer from bowel problems - or did as they don't now!), it comes in great packaging for the freezer, its easy to feed and you know you're feeding your dog/s the best which gives me great peace of mind, you know its got everything in it it should have; organs, ground bone, etcI purchase the Dinner Patties and the Little Dinner Patties and quite simply cannot fault Luna and Me, I'm very relieved to find such an easy complete raw food to offer my dogs that is delivered to my door :)
